Mykola Tomenko: Government of Azarov which submitted the Bill that liquidates the Benefits should take Full Responsibility for it
Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Mykola Tomenko believes that the Government headed by Prime Minister Mykola Azarov should take full responsibility for the submitted bill that liquidates a range of benefits for the social groups. The politician made this statement on Tuesday.
M.Tomenko reminded that the Government had registered the bill "On State Guarantees concerning Execution of Judgment" (Reg. No. 7562) on January 14, 2011. "For nine months, non-governmental organizations of Afghan war veterans, victims of Chornobyl disaster, war veterans, and other social groups together with the opposition have been telling the Government that this bill is a provocation which may lead to unpredictable consequences," the Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine stressed. However, the bill was re-registered (Reg. No. 9127) under the same title and without any changes. He also reminded that it is owing to the persistence of the opposition that the bill was adopted only in the first reading, not in entirety as insisted by the majority.
The Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine stressed that there is only one way out of this situation: to officially suspend scrutiny of the bill, and to set up a working group with Government´s participation including representatives of all groups affected by the amendments.
Summing up, Mykola Tomenko, as a combatant of Afghan war, advised his fellow war veterans to take responsibility for their words. He reminded that during the election campaign, the head of the Ukrainian Union of Afghan War Veterans "was the right-hand man of Viktor Yanukovych and promised that the latter will provide ‘a happy life.´"
